Shortport running on a Meta Portal: an olive dot-matrix LCD showing frequency, mode, S-meter and a live spectrum waterfall
Shortport on the Portal. Looks like something I'd have saved up for in 1987.

Shortwave on a $10 Facebook Portal

Meta quietly turned on ADB debugging on the old Facebook Portals. Those things flopped, so they go for about ten bucks now.

Meta also released a Horizon OS skill for Claude Code that wires up the sideload tooling.

I picked one up for $10 and gave it a shot.

What came out is Shortport, a shortwave receiver. It streams from the KiwiSDR network — about 1300 software radios scattered around the world — so you can tune a real receiver in New Zealand and hear whatever's actually on the air. I made it look like an 80’s era shortwave radio because <old-man-voice>I love skeuomorphism!</old-man-voice>

Repo's here. Name is terrible. Send me a PR with your suggestions to change it :)
